Selly was an unknown quantity to many of us when he first arrived at the club. It didn’t take long to realise however, that the boy could play. A towering presence in the centre of defence, Selly has been a virtual ever present since pre-season. He has made the position his own with a combination of bravery, great heading ability and an excellent understanding of the game. He’s also excellent with the ball at his feet and is reminiscent of a young Alan Hansen when carrying the ball out of defence! (It was either him or Rio sodding Ferdinand mate and I wasn’t having that!).

The most impressive thing about Selly though is his passion for the club. The boys got claret and blue blood running through his veins I swear! If he stays with the club the captaincy is something that will almost certainly follow in years to come (once we’ve pensioned Tom off!).

Off the pitch Selly can generally be found strutting his stuff on the dance floor of the New Inn with the lovely Miss.Selly (who by the way, this profile is dedicated to. Hope I’ve mentioned his name enough!!!).
